Goverment Strategy Preparing Pantura Road

Jakarta - North Coast Lane (Pantura) Java Island is a vital road because it is a connecting lane from the regions of Java to the capital city of Jakarta and vice versa. This lane is a merely riders complained which through this road since it often damage to the lane, the Government has repeatedly made improvements so given the nickname "eternal project" in this Pantura Line.

the government efforded many ways in completing the various improvements in the pantura line, the major problem has to become factor of the frequent pantura lane demaging is the frequent passing by trucking vehicles with a load capacity are exceeding the load. This was conveyed by the Director General of Highways Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Arie Setiadi Moerwanto.

"let me tell you, the only one problem , we still have with a overload problem. For example last night that road was passing with  most of the oversize trucks, overload. Therefore, the Ministry of PUPR in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub)to  revive the weighbridge , "Arie explained.

In addition Arie explained that the lane in the pantura region is a soft soil category that aggravate road conditions because it is not hard enough in holding the load. This caused the road is becoming prone to collaps if passed over and over by large truck vehicles.

And  this condition is getting worse, because  all the land  in Pantura is a sediment, the  soft soil is so deep , so the foundation could not resist  firmly , it  goes down, water level is high," Arie said.

Arie also explained that the Pantura Lane improvement  will gradually  be completed after the Eid, in term of  anticipate  severe congestion. The government will also encourage the development of toll roads so that the trucks to believe as the main cause of pantura damage will be diverted to several alternative routes.

"truly, some friends says that’s enable to use flexible pavement and seems need to use totally with concrete. Good concrete and good drainage system.  Yet I cant do it now  because there is curing time long enough, to avoid terrafic impact everywhere, "Arie explained

But Arie did not exactly  mentioned the total maintenance of this pantura road budget.. But  he said that 57% of the budget of the Directorate General of Highways for national road maintenance.

"I don’t  memorize for his budget. But the whole Indonesia allocation funds for preservation is 57% of the funds owned by the Directorate General of Highways, " Arie said.
