Trans Papua Connected Entirely on 2019

Jakarta - Arief Rachman Dienaputra as the Director of Road Network Development of Ditjen Bina Marga optimistic that all the Trans Papua highway connected entirely in 2019. Trans Papua has the total length of 4,329.5 Km which consist of Trans Papua in Papua Province along 3,259.45 Km and Trans Papua in West Papua Province along 1,070.62 Km.

“2019 all Trans Papua should have to connected. All 4,330 Km have to completed,” Dienaputra Said.

From the 3,976 Km total of Trans Papua in Papua Province have been successfully connected in the end of 2017. Whereas in 2018, there will be new construction road of Trans Papua along 197,91 Km as the connected road will be reached 3,103.66 Km. The rest of 4,78% road that has not been connected yet which is 155,79 Km will be completed in 2019.

In addition, Trans Papua in West Papua Province consist of two segments. Segment I Sorong-Maybrat-Manokwari along 594.81 Km achieved 77%. Segment II which starts from Manokwari-Mameh,-Wasior-the border of Papua Province has been connected in 2017.

From total length of 475.81 Km, the road that has been paved in segment II reach 145.41 Km wiand the roughness reach 330.41 km. There still needed an improvement for geometrical roal along 38.24 Km,” Minister of Public Housing and Works, Basoeki Hadimoeldjono explained.

To achieve the expectation of Trans Papua target connection, the Director of Road Construction work, Ahmad Gazali enacted 3 shifting work schedule.  He says that the obstacles in conctruct the Trans Papua road is on the natural condition which are about forested, mountains and the weather factors. For the material subject that is needed, he strives to use the available material on the Papua Island.
