Makassar New Port, Indonesia’s Most Modern Port

Wednesday (4/25/2018), Chief of Presidential Staff Moeldoko visits Makassar New Port construction project. The integrated port that’ll be most modern port in Indonesia is targeted to complete on 2019.

According to Doso Agung as President Director of Makassar New Port contractor, the port is designed to endure in a long term, for about hundred years.

“Makassar New Port will be the most modern port in Indonesia. The transportation connects to train that will extend along Sulawesi, from Makassar to Manado in North Sulawesi,” he said.

Moeldoko is optimistic that the project is able to complete faster than the target. It is because Makassar New Port uses Secant Pile technology which is a lightweight construction with docked installation and drilling system. The technology however only used in Liverpool Port and next in the Makassar New Port in the world.

By using the technology, beside fasten the construction time, it is also decrease the budget around IDR 500 billion rupiah.

“Logically, if the budget and the construction time fasten, it’ll bring move advantages to society to fasten the economic growth especially in South Sulawesi and Sulawesi Island in general,” Moeldoko explained.
