Moratorium On The Government's Right Action Road Construction Project

Jakarta - The government has imposed a moratorium or suspension on all infrastructure projects under construction of elevated elevators , this is a follow-up to President Joko Widodo's follow-up to the accidents occurring in toll road construction, LRT and MRT with flyover structures.

Chief of Staff of the Presidency (KSP) Moeldoko said that the measures taken by the government are aimed at preventing similar incidents from happening again. The President assessed the existence of SOP which is not run well and also other factors.

"That is a temporary policy for the moratorium, there are SOPs that do not work well, there are human error , there is a human negligence itself. There is something non-technical, "Moeldoko said.

However Moeldoko said after the spotlight of the evaluation of each project, the construction will continue and is expected to continue to achieve the completion target, especially in the project for the Asian Games 2018.

"It is temporary to evaluate some technical and non-technical things. Then it starts again because it also has a target time can not be ignored but the issue of security can not be ignored, a short moratorium to be restyled, evaluation there is what fixes again, increase, "said Moeldoko.

The enactment of this moratorium is also considered the right choice to reevaluate projects with high risk of accidents in order to avoid errors in the execution of project work. Various parties support the government's decision regarding the safety of this workforce, one of them is President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Desi Arryani who expressed his support to prioritize safety in construction project.

"This should be done to eliminate work accident during project work (Zero Accident)," Desi explained.

Desi also appealed to all subsidiaries of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, who worked on the project with the concept of elevated construction to always pay attention and also apply the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3), as well as the applicable procedures and standards.

"Jasa Marga will also re-evaluate all methods of work and construction procedures particularly related to occupational safety and health," continued Desi.
