Jakarta –Govenrment is sure to construct Yogyakarta – Solo toll road as the agreement between central government and regional government has made. Tendering process was planned this year. This toll road will be the first toll road across Yogyakarta.

Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono says the toll road later will connect Yogyakarta and Solo to break the traffic jump on national road in Yogyakarta. The toll road estimated to have 70 Km long and 80% of it will be elevated as the agreement.

“Long ago, when I was going to college, it was just one hour from Yogya to Solo by motorcycle. Now, it becomes 4 hours or 3 hours. It’s not economic at all,” said Basuki.

To tender proccess, Basuki explains that he got the initiator and targets to be run on this year.

“If tender was done, it will be taken 2 years as fastest, for construction. Just few of the part that will be acquisitioned since the toll road uses national road,” he explained.

The toll road will be elevated as what Sri Sultan HB X asked for. Besides reducing the land acquisition and breaking the culture pledge down, Sultan thinks the elevated method is able to reduce the cost project.

“Because there are a lot of culture sites on Prambanan that have not been verified and identified yet. So, it will be high risk to permit the land acquisition across Prambanan area. So, we choose elevated above the Ring Road toll as we and central government agreed. From north Ring Road, it will be across to Yogya – Solo road where toll bridge above will be construct,” Sultan said.

The toll road plans to construct across Bawen to Secang in Magelang to Yogyakarta, and also across north side around Demak Ijo, Yogyakarta City, across west side of north Ring Road and across Selokan Mataram in Sleman.
