Government Joint Private in Call for Central Kalimantan Dam Construction

Jakarta - Central Kalimantan is planned to be a place for  one of the government infrastructure construction , Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Water Resources (SDA) will build a Dam in Muara Jenai, Central Kalimantan.

The government will offer cooperation on the construction of these dams to the private sector with the scheme of Cooperation between Government and Business Entities (KPBU). Director General of SDA, Imam Santoso explained that this project is offered to the private sector on the grounds that the potential for electricity production will reach 110 Megawatts.

"Yesterday there was also on Jambo Aye right !, about 100 square meters. But it turns out after it found, there are several gas wells there. “So we cancel it again. It is now in Muara Jenai in Central Kalimantan. The electricity is big enough, " Imam stated

The potential for utilization of electricity for the island of Borneo is very well supported by the many industries that require electricity supply with large capacity in running their business, especially for the pulp and paper industry.

"Indeed in Borneo, the dam is a lot for electricity. Because there is  not so much the rice field , There are many pulp industries, "said Imam

Currently there are 17 dams that have not been built by the government ,from a total of 54 dams that are included in the National Strategic Project (PSN) and still use the state budget in the process. It is expected that the use of the KPBU scheme for this dam can be a potential valuable cooperation both private and foreign investors as well.
